Città Acre Chair

The Acre Chair is a collaboration between Città and Hong Kong-based industrial designer Michael Young. Michael describes the design as a “quirky classic”, with a strong focus on quality ergonomics.

Originally released in 2021 and awarded a Gold Pin at New Zealand’s Best Design Awards. This updated design features a refined metal base with a durable two-layer powder-coat finish. The signature, softly curved seat shell is expertly crafted from three-dimensionally formed plywood.

The versatile product has a true and timeless form, allowing it to sit within a range of commercial and residential spaces.

FSC® Certified

The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international, non-profit organisation that sets standards to ensure forestry is practised in an environmentally responsible and socially beneficial way.

In FSC® forestry, no more wood is felled than the forest can naturally reproduce. Therefore, FSC® helps to protect forests from deforestation and the animals and ecosystems within.

By using FSC®-certified material, we know the wood in our furniture comes from well-managed forests and originates from sustainable and legal sources. It also ensures the people who work within the entire supply chain are treated fairly and ethically.

Acre was first launched in 2021 and awarded a Gold Pin at the Best Design Awards.

In 2025, the range evolved to include the option of a metal base and new upholstery options, offering even greater versatility.

Eco plastic features throughout the range—a low-carbon material made from renewable sources. Around 30% of the composition is straw fibre, which gives the chair a subtly speckled finish and adds a sense of natural character.

The signature, softly curved seat shell is also available in three-dimensionally formed plywood—a technically complex material that reflects Città’s commitment to innovation and craftsmanship.

The Acre is designed with both residential and commercial spaces in mind. BIFMA-tested for durability in high-use environments.

Designed by Michael Young

Michael Young is a British industrial designer and creative director based in Hong Kong. His vibrant career spans product, furniture, and interior design, with work exhibited at the Louvre in Paris, the Design Museum in London, and solo exhibitions worldwide.

Reflecting on the Acre chair, Michael says: “A good product is not always defined by reinventing the wheel—it’s about redefining modern technology and processes. The entire form evolved from the industrial techniques available to us. I believe the result is honest, timeless, and true to its function.”
