Bough Dining Chair

The Bough dining chair is a celebration of considered design details. The curved T-shape back provides a distinctive modern silhouette and delicately connects to the elegant tapered legs.

Design Inspiration

The design takes cues from organic forms in nature. The name ‘Bough’, meaning ‘main tree branch’, aptly nods to this influence and is visually referenced in the chair’s unique form and the wooden composition.

Early design inspiration also came from the 18th-century Shaker furniture movement and its principles of simplicity and clean lines. Elements of this can be seen in the completed design, particularly evident in the gracefully tapered legs.

Considered Composition

The chair’s frame is made with lightly toned solid American white oak. The statement seat is made from masterfully curved plywood with a crown-cut American white oak veneer.

The design offers two finishes: natural and black. The black features a full-coverage stain with both options finished with clear PU lacquer.

For You & Your Space

The Bough seamlessly integrates into residential and commercial spaces alike. Thoughtful design provides the ability to be stacked up to five chairs high. The chair is crafted with FSC-certified timber and rigorously tested to BIFMA durability standards.

Designed by David Moreland & Nikolai Sorensen

The Bough is designed in our Auckland studio by David Moreland and Nikolai Sorensen.

“During the development, a lot of time was spent on the chair's more intricate details, such as the leg intersection with the back and the technically complex bends of the seat,” says David. “The design has its own unique aesthetic and feel, which was one of the goals from the outset.”
